You need to have goals throughout drug rehab.

Addiction is a powerful disease that encompasses every aspect of one’s life to deliver devastation. The goals of drug rehab are to provide effective treatment for drug addiction so that the addict may recovery and live a healthy and sober life. Although every drug rehab center has different goals and expectations the ultimate goal is always the same – to help patients to recover from addiction and live sober.

Safety Goals at Drug Rehab

The primary goal for most drug rehab centers is to provide a safe and caring place for addicts to recover from their addiction. Safety is always of concern at drug rehab. From physician supervised detox to 24 hour around the clock care and security, drug rehab provides the safest environment for recovery so that the addict can worry about more important things – like recovering.

Therapy Goals at Drug Rehab

All drug rehab centers will provide various forms of therapy to help work out any psychological matters associated with addiction. The therapy goals at drug rehab are to help the addict come to terms with their addiction both behind closed doors with the help of a counselor and also in front of their peers. Therapy is aimed at helping the addict to reflect on their addiction, their life and the various problems associated with the addiction.

Drug rehab also has a goal of introducing the addict to the 12 step programs such as AA, CA or NA. 12 step treatment is common throughout drug rehab and although originally developed by Alcoholic Anonymous the therapy is now used as a basis for all types of drug treatment.

Follow Up Care Goals of Drug Rehab

Most drug rehab centers provide follow up care. The goals of follow up care are to provide the addict with continued care for the long term well after inpatient treatment has been completed. Many drug rehab centers will provide follow up care in halfway houses, sober living facilities and even long term in the form of meetings and continued counseling.

Additional Goals of Drug Rehab

In addition to the above goals, drug rehab aims to help the addict transition back into society upon completion of the residential drug treatment program. They provide support to addicts, families and loved ones of those who suffer from addiction. Many also provide specialized services such as women’s counseling, therapy for sexual addictions or sexual abuse, marriage and relationship counseling and various other services to meet the diverse needs of every patient.
