According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, no one type of rehab that works for every person. There is also more than one type of treatment center. The type of treatment center you choose depends on your addiction and your preferences. When you are considering addiction treatment, it is important to look at all types of rehab centers and decide the one that is best for you.

Inpatient Addiction Treatment

Inpatient addiction treatment is one of the most common types of treatment. It is the type most used for representation of drug addiction treatment in the media and on television. In inpatient treatment you stay at the treatment facility and receive treatment until you can handle the outside world without using drugs again.

Outpatient Treatment Centers

Outpatient addiction treatment is the treatment; you attend treatment sessions usually daily or weekly. Although most people do well in inpatient treatment, they sometimes have other obligations such as work or school. Outpatient treatment lets them do these things uninterrupted while they receive treatment.

Teen Treatment Centers

These are treatment centers specifically meant for teens. They specialize in the problems adolescents have with drugs or alcohol and provide a place where teens can recover around other teens.

Luxury rehab centers are the more expensive option due to offering a vast variety of amenities.

Usually government run, these treatment centers are run by federal, state, or local government. They often have waiting lists and other requirements to get into. They offer free drug or alcohol treatment to those who need it.

Luxury Treatment Centers

Luxury rehab centers cater to those who want addiction treatment in luxury. Although these centers are often costly, the amenities often make up for the cost.

Physical Rehab Centers

Only some physical rehab centers treat drug addiction. These rehab centers often treat addiction to opiates while being treated for the injury that caused the addiction. Most of these are short term rehabs designed to solve the problem of the injury as well as the addiction.

Gender Based Treatment Centers

These treatment centers help people of a specific gender or orientation. There are LBGT centers, women’s centers, and men’s centers. Each type of treatment center is orientation specific and only allows people of that orientation to attend.

Holistic Treatment Centers

Holistic treatment centers specialize in alternative medicine. Most holistic centers take a whole life approach to addiction treatment. They allow people to discover and work on the cause of their addiction and other problems within their lives. They practice herbal medicine and other nontraditional approaches to addiction treatment.

These centers are for those who need addiction treatment and treatment for another usually mental disorder at the same time. They deal specifically with those who have more than one problem that needs treatment. Usually people who attend these rehab centers became addicts by self medicating for their conditions.
