Finding a Live in Rehab Facility for Addiction Treatment

addiction recovery

Inpatient facilities provide in-depth, personal care.

Finding rehab treatment can be a difficult process, but it is always important to remember to put the needs of the patient first. If you are looking for a live in rehab facility for addiction treatment, make sure to do your research so you can make an informed decision.

Why Choose Addiction Treatment

According to the DSHS, “research has shown that treatment for substance use disorders works to reduce and stop use and the negative consequences.” Treatment usually consists of a combination of therapy and medication at the crux and is sometimes supplemented by other methods. Addiction treatment allows individuals who feel that they cannot fight their addictions on their own to seek help and to benefit from the many options available to them. This can often go a long way toward the person’s eventual recovery.

The NIDA states that “drug addiction is a complex illness” which is “characterized by intense and, at times, uncontrollable drug craving.” People who are addicted to drugs also experience compulsive behavior that puts them in danger in order to get more of the drug and “use that persist[s] even in the face of devastating consequences.” It is often impossible for someone to fight addiction on his or her own, and with formal addiction treatment, the individual does not have to.

Why Choose Live In Treatment

“Residential treatment,” which is another term for live in or inpatient treatment, “programs can also be very effective, especially for those with more severe problems” (NIDA). When an individual is dealing with intense withdrawal symptoms (like those from alcohol), strong cravings (like those for cocaine), or a very severe addiction that consumes his or her thoughts, residential treatment may be necessary.

Although it can tend to be more expensive, some people need around the clock care, a controlled environment, and a medical staff on hand at all times when they are going through severe symptoms from their addiction. This can often be necessary to recovery as living in the facility can keep the patient focused on getting better for however long he or she stays.

Finding Live In Rehab Facilities

There are many ways to find and research live in rehab facilities. Here are some of the best ways to seek them:

  • Discuss your addiction with your doctor. A personal physician will know you well and may be able to suggest a good location.
  • Go to a clinic and discuss your options with the doctors and nurses there.
  • Go on SAMHSA‘s treatment locator and search for residential treatment facilities based on rates, types, and treatment methods available.
  • Call your local government office to find out about government-run facilities nearby.
  • Search websites of nearby facilities and learn about their methods before visiting.

Inpatient facilities can often be more expensive than outpatient facilities, simply because you are paying for the extra time you will spend there being treated. It is often worth it and necessary though, so consider what your needs are before making any decisions. As long as you research possible facilities with your needs in mind, you will likely find a live in rehab center that will provide you with a good foundation for your recovery.
