Do Free Rehab Centers Really Work?

rehab for drug

Free rehab can be found that is just as helpful as other programs.

Seeking treatment for drug or alcohol addiction at a professional rehab facility is sometimes the only chance that some people have of getting their life back on the right track. While there are hundreds of reputable rehab centers located throughout the United States, finding and comparing all the different options is never an issue. The issue for some people is the amount of money they can spend on rehab. Whether or not you can afford drug treatment and how you plan on paying for professional treatment is a concern you need to address up front. It is essential to consider all payment options, including free drug treatment. Free rehab treatment is out there and the programs are typically as effective as if you pay with your insurance plan or out of pocket.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), in the United States there are an estimated 20 million people in serious need of drug rehabilitation services. Out of these staggering numbers, only 10 percent of them are undergoing or have undergone rehab and an estimated 40 percent will not be able to receive treatment due to cost involved.

What are my options?

Lack of finances should not keep you from seeking out treatment programs, as there are so many options available to you.

  • Reach out to several different types of facilities to see what types of programs they may have, inpatient or outpatient.
  • Talk to the facility about any type of financial scales they have as part of their program.
  • Seek out financial assistance such as, grants or scholarships that might be available based on need or your income, if appropriate.
  • Do you have health insurance? Check with your carrier as not all insurances will cover the cost of drug treatment programs

Are they really free?

Probably the most significant benefit of free rehab centers is that you don’t have to worry about not being able to afford the services that are being provided to you. Free detox centers do not require upfront payment or any type of long-term agreements for payment. The services that they provide are completely free of charge, mostly state funded, and for you that means that all you have to do is focus your time there on getting well and recovering from your addiction.

Rehab is a vital first step to any addiction treatment program. Free rehab centers get you on your way to clean living by allowing you to overcome physical dependence on drugs or alcohol without the worry of expenses. Although it may be time consuming to find openings in free rehab centers, the benefit once you have found a rehab center with availability is that you can get the help and support that you need to overcome addiction and to regain control of your life.
