Syracuse has a new, state-funded addiction treatment center called the CUSE Recovery Community and Outreach Center. This facility will offer New Yorkers in the Syracuse area the chance to recover safely from opioid and other types of drug addiction syndromes. Among its treatment options will be peer group support, social games and activities, workforce training, and a drug-free setting where individuals can avoid relapse.
The state has been attempting to open more and more facilities of this type so residents can get the help they need for addiction and substance abuse. A recovery program in Rochester closed down in order to move to a new location, but state officials say it will be opening its doors again very soon. Officials hope these facilities will help fight the opioid epidemic in New York, not to mention the other substance abuse problems that are continuing to plague the state and the rest of the country.
