He is faced with the charges of assaulting a child a running a drug manufacturing and trafficking organization out of his home in South Shore, which together, total 9 counts. The drugs he was distributing include marijuana, ecstasy, molly, Adderall, and potentially other substances he was making himself with the help of cooking trays, Crock-Pots, and other supplies that were seized as evidence. In addition to the drugs, police found over a thousand dollars in cash, pellet guns, a bulletproof vest, a crossbow, scales, packaging materials, and several containers.

Tibbetts was keeping several types of marijuana-laced products in his home, including THC oil, vape cartridges, and drinks infused with THC. All of these seemed to be intended for sale, according to law enforcement. How Do I Know Someone I Love Is Dependent on Marijuana?

Marijuana has been legalized in several states as either a recreational drug, a medicinal drug, or both. However, like alcohol, which is also legal to use, marijuana can cause addiction and dependence, both of which can be serious problems. If you are unsure if someone you love is dependent on marijuana, look for the effects listed below.

• The individual coughs constantly or has chronic bronchitis symptoms (Center for Substance Abuse Research).
• The individual smokes large amounts and/or smokes every day.
• The individual is unable to stop smoking, even if they need to do so in order to pass a drug test, get a job, etc.
• The individual puts their marijuana use above everything else.
• The individual has tried to cut back but is unable to do so.
• The individual has an inability to deal with stress, anxiety, etc. when not on the drug, or the individual has less ability to deal with these issues than they used to.

The individual experiences intense symptoms when unable to obtain more of the drug, including:

  • Problems sleeping
  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Irritability
  • Decreased appetite
  • Cravings
  • Anxiety

According to a 2007 study published in the medical journal Addiction Science & Clinical Practice, individuals who experience these symptoms when they stop smoking marijuana (or using THC-laced products) are dependent and will usually require treatment in order to safely stop using these drugs.

Is Marijuana Rehab Available Near Me?

Yes. There are many treatment centers that offer help for those struggling with marijuana dependence and withdrawal. These programs use medications and behavioral therapies to treat the symptoms of marijuana withdrawal and help users stop abusing this drug. However, rehab isn’t the final step on the journey of recovery. Someone who has become dependent on marijuana must also seek ongoing support in order to learn the skills to avoid relapse in the future and stay sober from marijuana abuse.
