5 Questions You Should Ask Before Choosing a Drug Rehab Center

If you or a loved on is addicted to drugs and needs help you should be prepared to ask many questions when you are trying to choose between the various types of treatment for addiction that are available to you. Whether you are looking for inpatient drug rehab or a less invasive outpatient drug rehab program, the questions that you ask will help you to make an informed decision about the type of treatment that you ultimately receive. Here’s a look at some questions that you must ask prior to choosing any drug rehab center for yourself or your loved one.

How Long is the Drug Rehab Program?

It’s important that you ask how long a standard or average drug rehab program lasts at the facility that you are interested in. Consider the length of time that the average client stays at a facility as an insight into what you can expect. If the average client stays in a drug rehab program for less than 90 days you should consider this a poor sign as studies show that the most effective drug rehab programs last a period of at least 90 days.

How much does the drug rehab cost and what services are offered at this price?

Of course you want to know what drug rehab services are provided by the center and also what the cost will be. There are many luxury drug rehab centers that offer a full range of services but this doesn’t mean anything if you cannot afford the treatment. When choosing a drug rehab center consider asking many questions about cost, services and also insurance and other payment solutions.

Can my Family be involved in the drug rehab?

If you have family members who are part of your social support network consider asking the drug rehab center if they provide any type of involvement for families during the treatment program. Some drug rehab centers now offer family counseling as well as many opportunities for family interaction in an effort to help rebuild the social support system.

Is drug detox included and what does it cost?

If you are addicted to a physically addictive drug or your have been addicted for a long time then chances are you will need to undergo drug detox prior to attending a drug rehab program. Ask the drug rehab center if they provide drug detox and what the service will cost. Again, at this time you will also want to ask the drug rehab program about payment options for this type of treatment.

How Many clients are served at one time?

Finally, you will also want to ask about the number of clients that are being treated at a time. If a rehab center is providing treatment for a large number of people at one time then chances are the amount of individual or one-on-one time that you will receive at the facility will be limited. Your recovery and treatment could suffer if you are not receiving adequate care so consider the number of patients to the number of staff members as a clue to the amount of care you will receive.
