Eating Disorders
People who suffer from various eating disorders such as bulimia, anorexia or over eating can find help at eating disorder rehab centers. An eating disorder rehab center will help with both the physical illness as well as the mental illness that causes the eating disorders. While rehab centers for eating disorders do help people who suffer from bulimia, anorexia and other eating disorders, most individuals who suffer from eating disorders will require ongoing treatment in order to maintain health and freedom from the condition.
Eating disorder rehab centers have a number of different treatment options based on the type of eating disorder that the individual suffers from as well as the severity of the eating disorder. Like drug rehab centers and alcohol rehab centers, eating disorder rehab centers have inpatient and outpatient facilities to assist individuals with the recovery process. Some eating disorder rehab centers will provide additional treatment for eating disorders in the form of medication. Unfortunately, for some eating disorders, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and other mood altering prescription medications have not been proven effective and could even make matters worse. In most cases, psychotherapy is the most effective means for treating eating disorders.
